chris@scholarvera.comWriteSight
How do I install it?
WriteSight is a Microsoft Word add-in. During the current pilot phase, it's installed manually using a manifest file provided to participants. If you're part of a pilot and need the installation steps, email us and we'll send the current instructions for your platform (Windows or Mac).
Where is my writing data stored?
Inside your own document. WriteSight's provenance record is written into the .docx file itself and is not sent to ScholarVera. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Does it work on both Windows and Mac?
Yes. WriteSight runs in Word on both Windows and Mac.
The add-in isn't loading.
First, confirm Word is fully updated and that you opened a document (the task pane needs an open document). If it still won't load, email us with your operating system and Word version and we'll troubleshoot with you.
Reference verification tool
How do I use it?
Open the tool, paste your list of references, and run the check. Each citation is verified against scholarly sources, and results are grouped so you can see which references resolve cleanly and which warrant a closer look.
A real source got flagged for manual review. Why?
The tool is deliberately conservative: it would rather ask you to confirm a real source by hand than risk falsely confirming a fabricated one. Some legitimate works — particularly books with very generic catalog entries — land in "verify manually" for this reason. That's the safety bar working as intended, not an error.
Is my reference list stored?
No. Your references are processed to produce your results and aren't retained afterward. See the Privacy Policy.
The page seemed to hang on a long list.
Very long reference lists are processed in batches so your browser doesn't time out. Large lists may take a little longer to finish; if something seems genuinely stuck, refresh and try again, or email us.
For institutions
If you're evaluating ScholarVera's tools for a course, program, or institution — including questions about deployment, data handling, or how the tools fit competency-based assessment — we'd be glad to talk. Email us and describe your context, and we'll follow up.
Reporting a problem
Found a bug, a citation the checker got wrong, or anything that doesn't look right? Send it to chris@scholarvera.com. Concrete examples help us a great deal — the more specific, the faster we can fix it.
